Q. When searching a database I see a “Get-It” button. When I click this button, I cannot access the article even though I know the library subscribes to the journal. What is this button and why doesn’t it work?


We are partnered with Laurentian University and Lakehead University’s libraries. Both of our partners use a software product called SFX, which allows them to link their full-text holdings to their databases. This “Get-It” button allows users to seamlessly access the full-text from any database. Unfortunately, that button cannot be activated for us and our holdings will not appear when you click on that button. You may be able to access the full-text, but it is the full-text of either Lakehead or Laurentian.

It is best to check our e-journals or the Library catalogue to ascertain if we do indeed have the full-text.

The “Get-It” button will only appear in databases that the library shares with Laurentian and Lakehead, such as CINAHL or MEDLINE.
